The photograph here was taken in Canturbury, England oh so many years ago now I can hardly remember standing there and taking it. I lived in L.A. at the time and was going back and forth to England - somehow - on my budding poet's lack of income - and the green and damp of this place occurred to me as an utter revelation. Oh trees! and grass! and rain! There is, to the left of the photo, a little bit of a letter from my friend Xena, whom I met there, and whom I'm still very close with even though she lives in Chicago. In the letter she was telling me how I'm the kind of person who looks for love everywhere, in everyone and then I find it. This is both good and bad - you know, sometimes I'm looking for the love in some situation and shoot, maybe it's just a bad situation whose time has come to expire. But on the good side, when you look for love in someone or something, it's true you'll probably find it. Because what you focus on is what you experience. What you look for is what you get.
